This is front cover for 'Empire' magazine which is showing the film 'Inglorious Basterds'.
The background colour of the magazine is a grey, gritty colour which could relate to the dark image the film carries and the violence which is used throughout the film. The word 'Inglorious' is written in red which is connotated as violent, revenge and blood which is represented in the film. The word is also one of the largest things on the page apart from the magazine name. Showing the importance of the film in relation to that issue of the magazine. This colour use helps reflect the genre of film it is.
The puffs around the magazine are coloured in white text this contrasts against the red and grey background still making what is in the magazine known to the viewer.
The poster may also show star theory with Brad Pitt being a big Hollywood star and he his name is capable of attracting people to see the film. On the image Brad Pitt is shown holding a large knife this image shows violence and aggression. I believe this because he is holding it in such a way as if he wants to hurt somebody with it.
Also on the image is the costume of what Brad Pitt is wearing in the film this may give the viewer an idea of what genre of film the magazine is trying to promote.
